Clerkenwell Design Week 2026

Neurodiversity in the Workplace at the Wagstaff & Umbrella Showroom

19–21 May 2026 | 10am - 6pm | Wagstaff & Umbrella Showroom, 9 Brewhouse Yard, London EC1V 4JR
For Clerkenwell Design Week 2026, Wagstaff and Umbrella are back with our biggest Umbrella+Friends experience yet.
This year, we’re turning our Brewhouse Yard showroom into a place to slow down, explore, and experience design in a different way. The focus is neurodiversity in the workplace and how thoughtful design can help people feel more comfortable, focused and included at work.
Across the week, you’ll find inspiring design brands, practical talks, hands‑on installations and wellbeing‑focused experiences – all designed to show how workplaces can support different needs, working styles and ways of thinking.

If you’re visiting Clerkenwell this May, the Wagstaff and Umbrella showroom is a must‑visit stop.

The Senses and Sensibilities of Designing for Neurodivergency

Modern offices can be overwhelming for many people, especially when it comes to noise, lighting and materials. This panel looks at how the spaces we design affect how people feel, think and work.

Chaired by William Knight (Material Matters), the discussion brings together experts in lighting, materials and furniture design, alongside lived experience of neurodiversity. The panel explores how simple design choices can help reduce stress, improve focus and create calmer, more balanced workplaces.

Thursday 21 May | 5.00pm

The Sensory Office: Designing for the 100%

This session looks at how designing for neurodiversity doesn’t benefit just a few people – it makes workplaces better for everyone.

Chaired by Vanessa Champion, Editor of Journal of Biophilic Design, the panel brings together Ambitious About Autism, global workplace designers Gensler, and other industry experts. Topics include sensory comfort, choice and control in the workplace, and why inclusive design makes strong business sense.
