Sustainability & Social Responsibility
At Wagstaff, sustainability and social impact aren’t just part of our strategy, they’re embedded in the way we work and everything we do. Since introducing our ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management System in 2005, we’ve committed to reducing our environmental footprint and supporting the communities that connect with our projects.
We’ve spent years embedding responsible practices into our day-to-day operations; from energy use and transport, waste reduction, ethical procurement and sustainable partnerships. This long-term approach ensures that every project, whether in education, healthcare, or commercial workplaces, helps build a more sustainable future.
Driving Real Environmental Change
Our environmental goals span both day-to-day operations and long-term commitments. We’re focused on reducing our energy consumption across the business, promoting low-emission transport through our cycle to work scheme and meeting our carbon net zero targets.
Alongside these internal efforts, we support clients in reaching their own sustainability targets. Download our Make the Change directory, a curated guide to low-impact, sustainable furniture solutions, or speak to us about rehoming your used furniture through our partnership with Waste to Wonder.
From product sourcing to reuse strategies, we provide practical tools to reduce waste and extend the lifecycle of furniture across sectors.
Supporting Our Communities
We believe our business should have a positive impact beyond the spaces we design. That’s why we invest in local training, work experience, and fundraising initiatives that strengthen our community ties. Our apprenticeship and placement programmes create real pathways for underrepresented groups into the workplace and the wider interior industry.
By offering hands-on experience and transferable skills, we’re helping the next generation gain long-term opportunities, equipping them to secure meaningful employment.
Our People
Our team is our biggest strength. We’re committed to personal and professional development across the business, offering clear career progression, well-being support, and access to ongoing training.
We’re proud of our high employee retention as on average, our people stay with us for 19 years. That kind of commitment reflects a workplace culture built on mutual respect, growth, and shared purpose. As a Disability Confident employer, we also champion inclusive recruitment and work closely with partners who align with our ethical values.
Transparency & Accountability
Each year, we publish a detailed Sustainability & Social Responsibility Report to share our progress, goals, and impact. These reports track our sustainable journey, outline partnerships with ethical waste management groups like Waste to Wonder, and highlight the volunteering days we gift to every employee annually.
