Exploring the Essence of Circular Design and Reuse

Join us at Clerkenwell Design Week to discover some of the latest designs and brands that are leading the way in Circular Design and the art of the possible when it comes to redefining existing furniture.

Along with several exclusive product launches by British furniture brands, insightful panel discussions and interactive installations, the Umbrella and Wagstaff showroom is a must visit location on the Clerkenwell trail in 2024.

This year, Umbrella + Friends will present the latest product launches presented by: Edsbyn, FDB Møbler, Isomi, Jott Studio, Le Klint, Normann Copenhagen, OnOffice magazine, Square Bear, Swatchbox, Swedese, Ton, True Design, Waste to Wonder, Works magazine, alongside architectural film partner T6.

We’ve planned a series of exciting talks and workshops over the three-day festival.

Tuesday 21st May

Panel Talk: Journey to Circular Design

6.00 pm – 7.00 pm

In a world where legislation is lacking and circularity isn’t the highest priority, how can we all contribute towards change? From building in reuse programs, to modular configurations, waste management schemes and a passion to do the right thing, the journey to circular design is a goal worth fighting for.

Join an insightful discussion with which examines how, through the power of collaboration and an open dialogue, a greener future can be achieved and a circular mindset can become an industry norm.

Chaired by Roddy Clarke with OnOffice magazine, our guest panellists will explore the journey behind the innovative products being developed to support a more circular future. We will examine some of the pieces being launched by our partners at CDW; the innovative production materials, the importance of modularity and what the future holds for commercial furniture design.

Panel Talk: How are you washing your Greens?

6.00 pm – 7.00 pm

Chaired by Mick Jordan, editor of Works magazine with invited guests.

A healthy discussion where we navigate the complex landscape of environmental and sustainability accreditations. 

The many environmental and sustainability accreditations available within the industry is extensive. Our panellists will explore what these accreditations mean, what they are designed to achieve and how they’re being employed – marketing or for the environment? What can we do to achieve sustainable solutions for smaller projects and budgets.
